for the world

The news you can't keep watching but can't stop checking.

The war that feels far away until it doesn't.

This is the realisation of people who have been paying attention. it’s a world that would be rightly describes as troubled.

there are over 50 active armed conflicts in the world right now — the highest number since World War II.

over one billion people live with a diagnosable mental health condition, many directly linked to conflict, displacement, and financial instability.

the absence of peace at the global level is not abstract. It has a human face — hundreds of millions of them.

The cost of everything going up and the sense that nothing is stable.

The political landscape that feels broken beyond any individual's ability to fix.

The slow, grinding awareness that the systems meant to hold things together are under enormous strain, or even broken.

and there’s a peace that is above and through it all.

and there’s a peace that is above and through it all.

what does this feel like for you?

war and conflict — for those living in or near it, or carrying it from a distance

financial pressure — when money, or the absence of it, is the source of daily dread

a world that feels broken — political despair, institutional distrust, climate anxiety, the sense that no one is steering

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart — I have overcome the world.

— John 16:33

Jesus didn't say the world will get better. he said I have overcome it.

those are different claims. the second is harder and heavier and more honest.

he names the trouble in the same breath as the anchor — not minimising one to offer the other.

Overcome

Overcome

not the peace of things being fixed. the peace of someone who has already stood on the other side of the worst the world can do — and is still standing.

not the peace of things being fixed. the peace of someone who has already stood on the other side of the worst the world can do — and is still standing.

the peace available for a world in trouble is not the peace of things being fixed.

it is the peace of someone who has already stood on the other side of the worst the world can do — and is still standing.

who stands in the middle of your world right now and says the same thing. take heart.

I give you my peace.

not just a feeling. a promise of himself.

the Prince of Peace.

a supernatural peace, beyond what we can understand.

a peace that comes from complete wholeness, everything the way he intends.

the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

— Isaiah 53:5
